The company provides AI data fusion and decision support solutions based on comprehensive models of global trade networks.Altana was founded in December 2018 by Smith, Raphael Tehranian, Peter Swartz, and Alan Bersin. Prior to founding Altana, Smith, Tehranian, and Swartz worked at Panjiva, a global trade data company, which was acquired by S&P in 2018.Bersin served as Assistant Secretary in the Office of Policy at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security during the Obama administration, and before that as the Director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
