xAI is an artificial intelligence company founded by Elon Musk and announced on July 12, 2023 local time. The goal of building xAI is to focus on answering display-level scientific questions, with the hope that in the future, AI can be used to help people solve complex scientific and mathematical problems and "understand" the universe.
According to xAI's website, the team members have worked at DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Research, Microsoft Research, Tesla and the University of Toronto, and are advised by Dan Hendricks, the current director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence Safety. There are 11 core members of the startup team, led by Elon Musk. The 11 members are Igor Babushkin, Kyle Kosic, Greg Yang, Ross Nordeen, Toby Pohlen, Jimmy Ba, Christian Szegedy, Yuhui Wu, Zihang Dai, Manuel Kroiss, and Gordon Chang.
